Community Service at Hux Law Firm, LLC

Recently, my fiancee and I had the opportunity to participate in the Norman S. Minor Bar Association Run for the Future 5k/1 mile. The purpose of Run for the Future is to raise money for minority high school students who have an interest in pursuing a career in law. This may come as surprise to a lot of people, but there are very few minority attorneys in the practice of law. For example, although the U.S. population for African-Americans has hovered around 13%, the percentage of attorneys that are African-American barely reaches 5%. I find it hard to turn down a community service opportunity, and with this one related to something near and dear to my heart as a minority attorney, I jumped at the opportunity to participate. We both decided on running the 5k, and although it was tough after taking some time off due to injury, we had fun and there was a great turnout. We cannot wait to get more involved with the community and take part in initiatives like this in the future!
